What do you do when you run out of styling ideas? Well you’ve heard enough about my ‘shop in your closet’ lectures…but sometimes fresh look ideas just don’t come. Best tip I can give you is to check out what the pros are doing! By that I mean check out the runways- your favourite designers and get inspired! Something will jump at you and chances are you probably have something that sparks your imagination right in…you guessed it…your closet!
My inspiration this week came from a past runway of Dolce and Gabbana:
When I saw all that gorgeous colourful patchwork, I just knew I had to find something similar to style up. And then I remembered having these two amazing vintage 70’s quilted jackets!
And here’s the other jacket:
They obviously aren’t the exact replica of the Dolce and Gabbana looks…but just enough for me to get that vibe!
And now onto MY FAVOURITE FASHION DIVA from last week’s linkup: Chrissy from Granola and Grace!
And for MY FAVOURITE READ from last week’s Linkup was by Nicole of High Latitude Style for her post on Black History Month: Five Incredible Women You Should Know

I’d love to have a rummage through your wardrobe – you must have such great things, suddenly remembering a fantastic patchwork (reversible) jacket like this! Have a great weekend x
That first one is wow! Love the cut, love the pockets! Beautiful colors! This week, I have pulling out my scarves to bring some fun color!

Thats a fabulous jacket! I don’t think I have ever seen a patchwork jacket before! Fantastic!
Of course you have some super cool patchwork jackets in your closet, Lucy! lol! Your jackets perfectly imitate the runway looks. The reversible one is so gorgeous! I really love the aqua side, but that’s my pallet preference. Have a wonderful weekend!
xx Darlene

I love doing that- the runway is such a fabulous place for inspiration. Thanks!
Great idea Lucy! I look at runways and love that you had something perfect to what they were showing. Love both jackets and how the blues are contrasted with the second one. Looks great!

Thanks so much- these jackets are so fun!
Hi, Lucy – I am utterly amazed that you found a jacket (the second one) in your own closet that looks almost exactly like the ones in the Dolce & Gabbana runway looks! I love patchwork animal prints. Yes, these designer looks inspired me, too. I have a couple of animal-print jackets that I never think of wearing. Thanks! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Oh Lucy, I love your shop your closet encouraging. My fashion adventures began because two sweet women cleaned out their closets and gave me their castoffs to my very limited closet. I began to experiment and play for the first time and learned that I loved it. Now I still enjoy playing over shopping, but love surprises that come my way. That’s not to say I don’t like shopping days with my MIL though! 🙂 Oh and thank you for the shout-out. That was a sweet surprise.
I love how your fashion adventure started! And shopping days can be fun too! You deserved that shoutout xx
