It’s Time for Fashion Revolution Week!

Orsola de Castro & Fashion Revolution Week (semaine)

HI there today I’m here to highlight Fashion Revolution Week (April 19 – April 24th) – just like I did last year on this post here– and again this year, I want to share more especially on my blog. Of all my social platforms, this is my cyber home; in fact unlike Insta, Pinterest, twitter, etc, this is my actual real estate!

RECAP: This from the Fashion Revolution website: Fashion Revolution was founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster on (April 24th) 2013, Fashion Revolution has become the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilizing citizens, industry and policymakers through our research, education and advocacy work.

In memory of the Rana Plaza disaster, many events are taking place to further raise awareness of how we can all do better in fashion.  If you peruse the site, you will find numerous ways of contributing this whole week.  You can also check out the calendar of events here.

And- there are so many ways that we can all contribute in our own, be-it small, ways.  Whether you mend, upcycle, rewear, swap, resell, donate, repurpose, thrift- your clothes; or even if you buy local and invest in quality workmanship that is sustainable, All of it makes a difference.  Get Involved! Here are some free downloadable documents to get you going.

As for me, all week I will be posting vintage, thrift and DIY’s.  On Friday I will give you a recap of my outfits.  Here’s this EASY Diy of how I made a large skirt smaller so that if can fit me!

This is my #haulternative Fashion Fix!

Watch this short video:

How do you contribute to sustainability?

I hope I inspired you! If you’d like to join me this week in contributing your sustainability ways in posts, use the hashtags:  #FashionRevolutionWeek and #hashtagrevolt please tag me on my Instagram @lucybertoldi and I’ll be sure to post you in my stories together with my daily Diy’s – all week long!

No one should have to die for fashion. (Go ahead and listen to my podcast- at the very beginning where I speak of Orsola de Castro as well:)

  1. Truly that’s such a brilliant hack Lucy!! You would never know that the skirt wasn’t made this way.
And your addition of those tights is the perfect dopamine styling!!
    You are such an inspiration!!

  3. Lucy, what a brilliant hack for tailoring a skirt! I have a few skirts that I think this would work for. I love this outfit! The skirt and those tights are so amazing and even more amazing together! What a brilliant post and such an important message. I try to do better with my fashion choices, but I still need improvement! Today’s post features a thrifted dress that I had to get creative in mending to make it wearable again, so that’s something! Thanks for sharing this post!

    1. Thank you Shelbee! And I read your post with those adorable patches you upcycled the dress with- I love it!

  4. That is so much classier than my hack, which is to add a safety pin to each side of the skirt (I’ve done that in this post here: https://sheilaephemera.blogspot.com/2021/04/unexpected-post-mental-health-shop-and.html – the navy/orange skirt has been pinned for years to the right size).

How am I sustainable? I shop 95% second-hand, and I give my clothes to my friends, styling them all. I also give clothes to my coworkers, then donate the rest. I am a big proponent of secondhand first, shopping local, and giving back to my community.

BTW, if you ever come out to Victoria, BC, I will totally take you thrifting with me, Lucy!

    1. Oh I tell you Sheila, the more I’m getting to know you- the more we are alike! Thanks so much – I would come thrifting with you in a flash! You betcha if I ever come there!! xx
