Fabulous Friday’s Linkup Party- My BIRTHDAY Week!

On Tuesday I turned 60!! Woohoo!

Feeling so blessed! Let’s talk about turning 60 shall we? I can honestly say that this feeling of looking forward to another birthday really started at 50 for me. It was a milestone and I felt like life was finally going to start giving me the time I so desperately chased for all the time. And every birthday since, I’ve been looking forward to the next. It sounds kind of nuts actually, when you consider how society and the media feeds us all this info on how to remain ‘young’. We can’t actually do that- nor go back in time! Truly, I’ve never felt better, more at peace and most of all so in control of my own freedom. I wanna say that ageing is a liberating process for me. I can do so much more of the things that I want to do- finally!

So rather than dwelling on how to bring back the past, I’m celebrating how far I can go!

I’ve got lots to look forward this week and on! The kids are planning a birthday party for me:) I’ll be posting more pics on that next week! And even more exciting and important, by next week, I should also be sharing another blessed news! Stay tuned!

For my birthday outfit, I chose a favourite slinky jumpsuit of mine. I adore the comfort, the colour and the flattering cut on this one. Paired with a sheer animal print blouse, I get the comfort of just the right cover-up that will take me anywhere without me worrying about weather, or how I want to look and feel depending on the place, event or time of day. Don’t you just love it when an outfit can do all that?

And today, to kick off my birthday weekend, I thought I’d jazz it up with a super colourful dress and a satin green kimono. There’s nothing I find more deliciously chic than wearing slinky lingerie out- rather than for sleep- how about you?

And also, for my Birthday week, I recorded a Podcast! I speak a bit about my feelings on turning 60, as well as sending you an invite, asking you: How do you feel about turning 60, 70, 80…!!?? Let’s share our views and experiences- Let me interview you!! LISTEN HERE TO “TURNING 60- AN EXCITING TIME”:

AND NOW ……….

Are we ready for some FABULOUS FASHION DIVAS??? Since it’s my Birthday week, I thought I’d choose more than one Diva today…So, I chose 5!!! (and trust me, I’m really limiting myself- it’s always so difficult to choose!!)

Starting off with Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom. I’m loving this blush dress on her so much!! Strike a pose: Vogue!

Next, Darlene of Aquamarine Style. How darling is she in this zebra print and shorts?! Never met an animal print I didn’t fall head over heels for, and this one is divine. Hotness alert!

Black and White Style for A Crisp Summer Look

Third on this FABULOUS list is Rena of It’s all Fine Whatever Blog. How good does she look?! This babe is giving me all the beach vibes with this perfect laissez-faire styling- and that hat! I just wanna be on that beach! I’m also totally envious of that mane, you??

Fourth Fashion Beauty is this sizzling diva, Ashley of Le Stylo Rouge. Adorable overload is what she is! You all know how crazy I am for yellow…well I’m totally in love with this gem of a dress. And with the wedges, it just comes together so perfectly. Love it!

Last, but certainly not least…I mean, did you actually think I could leave this Fashionista off my list??? Sheila of Ephemera Blog! I’m so into powder blue and feminine these days (remember last week’s duster?)…and then don’t I land on Sheila’s post where she is styling the whole package with this dreamboat dress! The epitome, my darlings. A true Sheila Statement of course! Gorgeous!

And it wouldn’t be a Fabulous Friday if I didn’t include my FAVOURITE READ from last week’s Linkup Party: Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge for her post on: Affirmations for Love and Compassion. I absolutely loved reading about this and am now incorporating these in my daily. So interesting and inspiring!

  1. Happy Happy Birthday, my sweet fabulous friend! I view birthdays quite the same as you. Aging is very liberating and I just grow wiser and more comfortable in my own skin with each passing year. Why the heck would anyone want to go backwards when forward is so much better?! I am loving both of your birthday outfits, but that tie dye dress with the gorgeous green kimono is speaking to my soul! Absolutely stunning! Thanks so much for the feature this week, too! What a lovely way to start my weekend!

    Alison xx

    1. So nice to hear this Alison! I find I’m hearing this more and more compared to the women of my past who dreaded getting older as of 30! Times have changed for the better. And you are one hot 60 mama xx Thanks so much!

  3. This is a fabulous motto … “So rather than dwelling on how to bring back the past, I’m celebrating how far I can go!” I hope that you have a marvelous time celebrating your birthday and thank you for the lovely compliment on my post. You have an invitation to enjoy my beach with me any time your heart desires.

  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lucy! Wow, you are leading the pack and showing us all how to feel like ourselves and wear whatever the hell we want, regardless of our actual age! I adore both your dress (that lime green duster/lingerie piece?? be still, my heart!) and that incredible jumpsuit! I think my mom had one like that in the early 70s!

Thank you so much for featuring me and for introducing/reminding me of these other fabulous women! You are such a sweetheart. Thanks also for the link-party!

I’m going to listen to your podcast now. 🙂

Wishing you a wonderful birthday weekend, full of joy, friends, family and good times! Big virtual hugs to you, my dear friend!

  8. Happy birthday and thank you so much for the feature! 🙂 Wow, what a great way to look at it… I think at 50-60ish it is interesting how life really can slow down and you have time to do more things for yourself and relax a bit more. I love that tie dye in the first photo, so colorful and fab!

  9. Happy Birthday Lucy! So great you are celebrating each year with gusto! I do agree with your philosophy on aging, there is a sense of freedom and coming into ones self at this age. No wonder you chose that jumpsuit, wootwoo!
