Of course you should accessorize- and that’s because details matter! Whether it’s to dress- or glam up an outfit, your go-to should be accessories. This is such an easy way to never tire of what’s in your closet. In fact, accessories can update your look instantly- all you have to do is try this out with an item you’ve had forever. This works especially well with your vintage outfits (takes the costumey feel right out of the outfit!).
Which Accessories Work Best?
Today, almost any addition that complements – or adds the finishing touches to your outfit, falls under the accessories category. So you can imagine the endless possibilities. These can be: Footwear, belts, jewelry, hats, scarves, ribbons, clips, fascinators, handbags, fans (yes ladies still use these- think weddings!), socks, tights, gloves, glasses- even nail shapes and colours can add the right touch! How you decide to accessorize is your choice!
How I Accessorized…
Last week I had an event that called for cocktail wear. I wanted to wear something that wouldn’t look overly dressed, but fancy enough to make me feel glam. I started out with what I call ‘a canvas’. This is the base outfit from where I start building a look. I picked an all-black jumpsuit that has these lovely sheer sleeves. Because the pants are a bit short, I tucked them into my beautiful black patent booties.
The jumpsuit comes with its own sewn-on sash- but that wasn’t enough for me! I added a Chanel charm to this chain belt I have and from there just had to continue with the theme. I put on my Chanel earrings – but then which necklace? Not another Chanel- that would have been too predictable. Found a gaudy thick-link chain necklace and it was perfection! Not too much- but glam enough. It’s all about upping your game…and that’s a great reason as to why you should accessorize. Here’s the final look
