Stylish Monday in a Shacket

How fun that this wonderful fashion blogger collab should fall on Canadian Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for, and this online presence with so many of you here weekly, reading what is happening in my tiny piece of this world, means so much to me. This too is one of my blessings. And I’m thankful for you!

Onto some fashion with my Stylish Monday Gang!

October’s sombre vibes has me styling up this sheer, black ‘shacket’ which I love wearing over tanks or sleeveless outfits; like this tulle dress for example. It’s perfectly light, chic and edgy- whether it’s worn as a shirt, or jacket.

Here’s the clip of me styling this up:

Let’s check out my beautiful Blogger Friends and see what they styled up

Amy – Amy’s Creative Pursuits –  I never thought I would like shackets because I don’t like the over-sized look on my body type, but this cute one from Amazon is over-sized in length, and not so much in width, so it gives a more fitted, polished look.

Nicole – High Latitude Style – While shackets are an Alaskan favorite, I have owned only two shackets so far. The first shacket was the classic Buffalo plaid skirt in red with black. I used to wear it for snow shoveling in late spring and early winter (late September, first week of October). The second one was a DIY patching project. I had bought the piece as a shirt, but it was too stiff to be worn as such. Therefore, I patched it to turn it into a shacket. I still wear it in late spring and early fall as cover-up when a cotton cardigan would be too cold and a jacket would be still too warm. Given that in Alaska the transition seasons are very short (2-4 weeks), I don’t get much wear out of my shacket.

Julie – Fashion Trends and Friends and Instagram FashionTandF -I’m loving the shacket trend especially since I’m always cold!  Shackets come in so many colors, lengths and styles there’s bound to be one you’ll like!  It’s the perfect layering item for fall and winter.  I love my newest one with pink and pockets! You don’t have to spend a lot on trends to give it a try!

Shelbee – Shelbee on the Edge – When shackets started trending last fall, I wanted to try out the trend without spending too much money. So I hit the thrift shops and found this olive green corduroy shirt jacket that is quickly becoming an autumn wardrobe staple.

Nina – Sharing a Journey -Is the shacket trend for you? Learn I am giving it a whirl in this month’s Stylish Monday Post.

    1. I’m a little late in my response, but I thank you so much! And to a wonderful Thanksgiving to you too in November:)

  1. Happy belated Thanksgiving. This shirt-jacket has a lot of details! A great find. I bet you get a lot of edgy outfits with it. I love today’s LOTD. The mix of different sheer layers is so unexpected, but so interesting! You are an artist!

  2. Happy Thanksgiving to you! Ohhh, I have yet to find the perfect shacket for me, but I have been seeing them everywhere! I must get on this trend pronto! I love the sheer gauzy/leather combo of yours, so sleek and stylish!

  3. Lucy, your jacket is simply amazing! I love the leather with the sheer bits. Super sassy! I remember when I was in high school, I wanted my mom to make me a blazer with sheer sleeves and this jacket sort of reminds me of that vision I had way back a million years ago! You look fabulous, my friend. I love the whole outfit!

  4. At first glance, I thought your shacket was duster length, but then I saw it’s your skirt. This is such a great outfit! Flows so nicely.

    1. Thanks Jess! And the more I look at it the more it’s looking like a set- perfect match lol!
