Nothing says summer like a garden party. Barbecues and fun gatherings with family and friends are all part of the fun that summer weekends have to offer. And here in Montreal, with only 2 months of summer sunshine and heat, our weekend gatherings are super precious to us; we basically pray for no rain!
Another thing about summer in Montreal; as soon as temperatures start rising, we are out and about in our summer outfits- even if it’s not that warm yet. We shed the layers, bare our flesh and bring on the color. And for my husband and I, that means driving in the convertible any sunny chance we get.
My look started out with my go-to- LV scarf I got in St-Germain-des-Pres, Paris ten years ago. Decided to style it up with this lovely sheer Desigual dress I found in the coverup section of my favourite charity shop. And if there was ever a match made in heaven, I also found earrings that made it look like a complete set! A very old, but much loved LV purse accompanied the look- and I was ready for a garden party!

And now it’s time to check out what my Thrifty Six Fashionista Sistas have styled up for their Garden Partyy!!

Hey, you know me! I love to wear black! But to be honest I had something else in mind for a garden party, which I actually had but it rained all day so had to wear something warm and arms and legs covered. And then I watched a video of Carla Rockmore and she wore a similar dress as inspiration for a garden party. So if Carla Rockmore says it’s okay to wear black, who am I not to listen!
I added golden sandals like she did, a golden fun bag like she did, statement light earrings like she did…..but no golden necklace! I had to add something pre loved of course! The necklace is.

I love when the Paddock Mansion gardens at the Jefferson County Historical Society are in full bloom. It is such a peaceful oasis in the middle of a busy life and the perfect location for a garden party. So I donned a newly thrifted dress in a bold floral print and added lots of gorgeous green including the preloved scarf that accessorized my new summer straw hat and off I went for a garden party that included me and my husband and my cell phone camera!”

Sipping Champagne in suburbia…Sundays in high summer, bubbles from a crystal flute, a fleeting air of sophistication…that’s what ‘Garden Party’ means to me. It’s The Thrifty Six theme for July so I’m glamming it up in candy floss coloured silk! This ‘pretty-as-a-picture’ vintage outfit, embellished with a flurry of pink accessories is perfect for any alfresco soirée!

July is my birthday month so it’s the perfect excuse to have a garden party! A breezy dress and sun hat is my perfect outfit for the occasion. I found this Fabienne Chapot dress on Vinted – I love the peach print so much that I have bought the midi length version, as well as a preloved top, skirt and blouse!
Grace of Graceful Rags
I thrifted this dress during my semester abroad in Scotland. I needed something springy for the Scottish Country Dancing ball, and this fit-and-flare was the perfect piece! I love the more subtle colors, and I think all this garden party dress is missing is my thrifted nude fascinator.

Looks fantastic to me, but you have a treasure there, Lucy! Not only is that Desigual, but the person in the picture on the label is Christian Lacroix! It would have sold for around $125.00!
I have had one of his dresses, and I own one of the beautiful multi-fabric coats that’s also by him.
Sheila!! OMG! I hadn’t even noticed that! Brilliant! Thanks so much- you’re so fashion savvy it’s incredible my friend xx
Lucy, you look spectacular in this dress along with all of the accoutrements! And, your earrings are perfect with this dress! Once upon a time, we had a convertible. I bought a scarf to wear just for riding with the top down! I never did either! We, unfortunately, in a moment of practicality, traded it in for a little car! Another, amongst many, regrettable action!

So fabulous, Lucy! I love the vibrant print on this dress and those earrings really are a perfect match with the neckline detail. Your LV scarf is gorgeous, too. I love the mixed prints on it making it super versatile and so great for travel purposes!
Shelbee
Thanks Shelbee- I’m nuts for this scarf! I do use it for travel all the time xx
