The Thrifty Six Styling Pre-Loved Coats for Fall
There’s nothing I love more than styling coats when the autumn weather hits. And what could be better than finding a perfect, ultra stylish pre-loved coat for fall?! With this cozy flannel beauty, I feel chic even when dressed down.
I snatched this plaid pre-loved fall coat at my nearby Village des Valeurs– I just love to go peek in there regularly. When I spot out a gem, I grab it immediately before another style savvy fashionista gets her eye on it! Such purchases have me never looking back; just like with this one that I wear on the repeat.

How to Style Pre-Loved Fall Coats
There’s no magic to styling up pre-loved except for a few things you should keep in mind:
1- It’s important to find an item that is well-made and that was well cared for. This takes away all notions of it appearing as old. It’s ok to find items that need some minor repairs or tlc- but nothing major; unless you’re looking to give it a total make-over conversion.
2- Try to choose items that are different (not what everyone is wearing)- items that speak out to you in terms of excitement, creativity and that go with your personality. It’s fun to do this because this will add flair to your wardrobe as well as originality- and that never goes out of style! (Remember Dopamine Styling HERE – AND – HERE).
3- You don’t want to look ‘costume-ish’, but you do want to look current (not out-dated). The best tip for that is to pair the old with the new! Meaning, you should wear your pre-loved, or vintage item with something new. This will add a touch of uniqueness to your style, while keeping you on trend. And this is exactly what I’ve done with my pre-loved fall coat: I paired it with my brand new Wild Fable Jeans from Target (and of course some white booties just to shock since it’s after Labour Day LOL!). Can you see how the two work magically together that makes me look on trend?

Oh, I love that coat, Lucy! It reminds me of one I had in the early 70s! It was orange, purple, and black plaid! I loved it, and my dad hated it!

I really love the mix of colours as well- thank you Jill!
Some my favorite (and wilder) coats are thrift store finds. It’s easy to step a bit outside of your comfort zone when it doesn’t cost much.
