I don’t work in a regular office- so as a fashion teacher my attire doesn’t have to be formal or conventional…unless I want it to be! I feel quite lucky that inspiration and creativity are the guiding factors for what I wear to work each day. For me, dressing up for work goes hand in hand with what I do for a living. I guess you can say it’s almost expected of me! So…maybe I’m actually wearing a ‘fashion teacher uniform’ of sorts after all- lol!

There are so many reasons as to why we all get dressed. I actually teach this in one of my fashion history courses and wrote a post about it HERE. We all get up and have some reason or other to get dressed, and for most of us that’s work. So this week I’m showing you what I wear to work, but I’m also curious about you ladies as well! What do you wear to work?

So that’s it for this week! You got a sneak peak at what I wear to work. Would you like me to post more of these weekly looks? Let me know in the comments. And- I really want to know what it is that you wear to work!
You can check out my Instagram reel to see the looks in motion.
The items I’m wearing are either vintage, pre-loved or bought retail. So I picked some lovely pieces for you that resemble my own- I think you’ll love them as much as I do!
Bisous my Lovies,
Lucy xx

Since COVID I have been working from home and mainly wear knit dresses with bold belts. Prior to the pandemic, I wore straight classic skirts with a sweater (cold season) or a T-shirt or knitted short sleeve sweater. Layering included Tees, cardigans, scarves. When it was extremely cold (below -20C) or I had to attend a meeting I added a blazer, cardigan or leather biker/bomber jacket. For the commute a trench coat did the job during the rain season (August). During the cold season the degree of the coat’s thickness and thermal insulation increased with time until late January/early February. Then it decreased again until April to typically no outerwear in late April/early May unless it rained. In a nutshell, I dress stylishly with thermal comfort for the weather in mind applying my knowledge on the physical properties of clothes and the water, water vapor and heat transport through the porous medium aka fabric and fibers.
Regarding your work style, it looks like animal print is your signature statement piece, creative eclectic layering your dressing “recipe”. Yes, I would love to see more of your work outfits. They are pieces of art.
Oh Nicole I loved reading this! You have such an eclectic and beautiful style. And I’m pretty sure you are spot-on (pun!) about me and my animal print love. It is truly my favourite and so I guess, it is my signature style! Thanks:)
Hi, Lucy – Why do we love animal prints so much? Lol! I was just looking at my clothes as I hung them up from the laundry today and noticing that my main “colors” are animal prints, grays and blue-greens. They are just what I love. Thanks for sharing your outfit inspiration – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
Hi Angie! I’m not sure what it is with animal print…I have always thought of it as a neutral- and what looks best in nature, is usually a pretty good fit for humans as well:) Thanks!
