How do you wear your caftans? I hope not just as cover ups or lounge wear! Styled with the right accessories and footwear, you can wear caftans anytime- anywhere. These superb creations add style, flair and mood to your look. Decide on the right accessories depending on where you’re going and I guarantee you’ll have the most beautiful, comfortable and original outfit ever.
Think of caftans as a type of maxi dress with personality and elegance. I love to wear mine out in completely different places- I just switch up my heels or flats as well as my jewelry. This helps to really make the outfit fit the place I’m going, as well as the vibe.
Where to Style a Caftan
- Shopping in a caftan, flats, cap and sunnies
- Afternoon cocktails by the pool with friends- and of course at a beach party!
- Barbecues
- Out to dinner with my husband (wearing my chic pearls and heels)
- To special events: wedding, bridal shower (sequin touches are perfect for these occasions)
- Entertaining at home with a few friends and family
The list is actually endless.
When to Wear Your Caftan
Forget the outdated notion that caftans are only meant for summer! You can often catch me wearing a caftan and cowboy boots when going for a walk on a cool autumn day (can you picture the dreamy scene!) I also wear caftans in the winter- and why not? Layered under a long vest or cardigan, they make for the perfect cozy but chic winter outfit. I especially love them with high platform boots as well. See here.
But- yes of course, I do lounge around in caftans as well. Comfort is everything, but so is feeling luxurious, and caftans make it all possible. Look at all the ways you can wear caftans (and kimonos!) in this post I wrote. So next time you fall in love with a gorgeous caftan- get it! Don’t automatically assume its wearing time is limited. It’s not! You can definitely wear caftans anytime- anywhere. I can go on forever about caftans!
