Why a Maximalist Monday?
So happy to be getting back on board with a new challenge! And why, of all things a Maximalist Monday theme? Well for starters, Monday has a bad rep- it’s notoriously felt as being a slow, blues kind-of-day for most of us. So what better way to snap out of it by starting out with a fun, out of the norm kind of outfit. In styling and fashion, inspiration and pushing yourself a little beyond your norm can go a long way in getting your creative juices going. It’s a way to boost your creative fashion energy.
I am proposing this challenge not only to all my fashion students (for the obvious creative reasons)- but also to all of you my fashionista ladies to get your styling mojo on! This is super important especially during the Fall/Winter seasons as both weather and darker days settle in. It’s one way of keeping us brighter while having fun experimenting to where our creativity takes us.
You’d be surprised how this type of challenge can help you evolve in your style. You’ll also shift that locked-in predictable look and change it or upgrade it to modify your style. Creating new looks will become easier- as well as- shopping for your wardrobe by picking items you know you will love.
Best part: Your Maximalist look is unique! Its yours and yours alone!
Maximalist Monday How To
I think this one will be super easy for everyone to join in on the fun. All it takes is for you to style up what you consider to be a Maximalist Monday look. That can be anything you want it to be – as long as you consider it to be maximalist. For some of you this might mean wearing the boldest colour in your closet, one that you rarely wear because well…it’s just too much. For others this might mean wearing the most outrageous outfit you can put together- boa, sparkles and all! You choose how you want to style your Maximalist Monday ‘fit!
Good ideas on how to include: experimenting with bold colors, layering, or wearing statement accessories.
Once you’re all dressed up, make sure to take some great pics! You can then post them so we can all see you- either on Instagram, or on your blog- wherever you prefer. Just tag me, or let me know so that I can see! And besides the lovely tag, please use the hashtag: #maximalistmonday
Here are some great examples of ladies who have no limits when it comes to stylish maximalist wear:

Of course your style is your own, so do it your way!
This Week’s Maximalist Monday Outfit
For this week’s Maximalist Monday outfit I put together this gorgeous, oh so colourful Zara blouse under a crazy purple swirl knit dress. I could have gone with a simple white turtleneck under it all- but why?? These two pieces brought the outfit together with a bang- don’t you think?
Then out of my sock bin came these tattoo-like stockings by Malka Chic which I adore (you can see them here and here.) I got them a few years back and they are honestly not the subtle quiet type lol! As for the jewelry, gaudy-gold it was with Versace inspired earrings and a bold choker necklace- and bangles and all. My metallic booties gave tis a pop. Finally, my colourful wool coat (I got this one in Paris last year), this one sealed the deal.
Here’s my bonafide Maximalist Monday look!

Maximalist styling can be for everyone- as there are so many ways you can go about creating the look you’re most comfortable with. This can be achieved by simply adding, combining or just tweaking a few things.
The one important factor is that you enjoy the process and love the result! Can’t wait to see what you come up with- see ya on Insta!
